Meet Erin
I've always had issues with my lower back dating back to high school, but could often solve them on my own with a yearly visit to a chiropractor. I've also been very active my whole life; biking, running, HIIT workout classes, etc.
In 2015, I herniated a disc in my lower back that no one seemed to diagnose correctly. This led me to dealing with ongoing chronic pain + stopping almost all physical activity. By 2018, I was worse off than when I first herniated the disc.
Share a bit about your athletic + injury history with us!
I wasn’t strong enough to stabilize my lower back, preventing me from getting back to the physical activity I was doing before. I wanted to get strong enough so I could resume some of my previous physical activities and not have my back go out of whack as often (multiple times a month!)
What was your motivation for pursuing athletic training?
She listens!! And always has amazing alternative suggestions when one movement or exercise doesn't feel great for me.
What's the main reason you'd recommend Nina Szemis, ATC?
I had seen so many practitioners who hadn't really helped prior to them. I was having trouble trusting that they could work with me in a way that worked for my body.
Were there any obstacles that almost prevented you from reaching out to our team?
How much better my back feels on a daily basis?I seriously never thought I wouldn't live without chronic pain again.
What's been one unexpected aspect of your recovery with Physical TheraPT?
.
Do it!! Even if you think you don't think they will help you any differently than what other people in their same field do, but they actually do!
What would you tell someone who's considering physical therapy or athletic training with us?
