Aschwanden gives a voice to every question you’ve ever wanted to ask about recovery. Should or shouldn’t aside, she breaks down the current research and beliefs around common recovery strategies. No longer developed with just the athlete in mind, recovery has become a billion dollar industry. Competitors at every level are left wondering “Does any of this actually help?!”

We appreciated the author’s engaging and entertaining tone as she explains techniques that are scientifically proven or have strong clinically observed outcomes. As for the unfounded recovery hoaxes, we agree it’s important to break down how they work (or don’t work) as well. This book can serve as an excellent guide to the curious athlete who wants to elevate their commitment off the field.

Good to Go reminds each of us that, ultimately, we’re still just scratching the surface on the science of recovery. Consulting multiple scientific sources and working with trained professionals can help ensure you’re making the best decisions. Ultimately, for some treatments that do no harm, the psychologically benefits may outweigh the physical benefits. Our recommendation? The more you know, the better.
